Aleph Innovation Challenge
An annual challenge for medical device and health technology projects. The prize is what most projects lack: hours in an accredited laboratory and mentoring from people who have taken devices to the FDA.
- Annual, open to Hub members
- Real medical device and health technology projects
- First edition: dates to be announced
Why a challenge
Good ideas stall between the prototype and the test bench.
Many promising projects in universities and startups never get tested, because accredited testing is expensive and hard to access. The Challenge gives the best of them a direct route to the Test phase of the Hub’s method.
How it works
Five stages, one route to the laboratory
Call for projects
The Hub publishes the call, the themes and the rules for each edition.
Applications
Teams submit their project, the need it addresses and its current stage of development.
Selection
A committee reviews technical, clinical and regulatory merit, following the Validate phase criteria.
Mentoring
Finalists work with mentors on their regulatory route and testing plan.
Awards
Winning projects receive laboratory hours and mentoring to move forward.
Themes, eligibility, dates and the number of laboratory hours for each edition will be published with the call.
Who takes part
A challenge built with the whole ecosystem
Students and faculty
From partner universities and Aleph University programs, individually or in teams.
Healthcare institutions
As a source of real needs and as clinical advisors to teams.
